On June 26, 2025, two people lost their lives as a consequence of a sad crash that occurred on US-59 roughly 3.5 miles east of Afton.
In the vicinity of S 564 Rd in Ottawa County, the collision took place at approximately 5:41 p.m.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Randall Wagner, who is 70 years old and hails from Grove, Oklahoma, was heading eastward when it crossed the center line for reasons that are not known.
The vehicle was involved in a head-on collision with a Kia Soul that was traveling westbound and was driven by Debbie Lee, who was also from Grove. The emergency workers that responded to the incident determined that both drivers had passed away.
Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, received Olivette Wagner, a passenger in the Chevrolet Trailblazer who was 61 years old. She was transferred there by Quapaw Emergency Medical Services.
Internal and exterior injuries were present when she was admitted to the hospital in fair condition.
A Nissan Rogue driven by Kayla Getz, who is 34 years old and hails from Seneca, Missouri, was added to the list of vehicles that were engaged in the event.
When Getz swerved to escape the collision and hit the Trailblazer, he did not sustain any injuries as a result of his actions.
An investigation is still being conducted to determine the true cause of the accident.
