Georgia man who was visiting Maryland to care for his grandmother, who is battling cancer, went missing last weekend, according to Montgomery County police.
The family of Andrew Mostyn Jr., 23, hasn’t heard from him since March 30, the evening before Easter.
“They had plans to go to the Easter service on Sunday morning,” said his mother, Joy Dameron. “He said, ‘I’m going to run some errands.'” Do you need anything? I’ll be returning, and we’ll go to the ceremony tomorrow morning, then hide eggs for my cousins.
Mostyn stopped at a food store and ventured downtown Washington, DC. By 5:30 p.m., he was discussing the event with pals in Georgia.
“He was Snapchatting by the Lincoln Memorial and the Mall,” Dameron went on to say. “He enjoys history. History has been his passion. “History and the outdoors.”
At after 10 p.m., family members began getting mysterious text messages.
“Texting back and forth… “He sent strange texts to his cousin that had never happened before and would never have happened if it was him,” his mother explained. “Weird stuff, like ‘come over,’ and he wasn’t even present. “He was already missing.”
Following calls and texts to Mostyn went unanswered. He has not turned up for work at District Photo in Beltsville. Police discovered his work ID during a check of his grandmother’s house.
According to family members, his dog was imprisoned, indicating that he did not intend to remain away for long.
“I’m scared,” his mother admitted.
Montgomery County police are working with neighboring jurisdictions to locate Mostyn.
He stands 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He left his grandmother’s Silver Spring house in a white 2000 Ford F-150 pickup with Georgia license plate RYH3051.
