Hillsborough County Sheriff investigates bomb threat at Brandon elementary school

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a bogus bomb threat made at Brandon’s Mintz Elementary School.

On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, HCSO received a call after 10 a.m. regarding a bomb threat at Mintz Elementary School. Administrators decided to evacuate the school.

Patrol deputies and the K9 Unit arrived at the school and discovered no bombs anywhere.

At the moment, there is no immediate threat to the school, and everyone is secure.

“We take school-based threats extremely seriously, and any threats made are unacceptable,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Be assured, we are fully committed to identifying and holding those involved accountable. I urge anyone with information to contact our detectives.

Anyone who witnesses, hears, or reads about a threat and wishes to report a tip can do so by calling teamHCSO’s non-emergency number, 813-247-8200, or 911 if it is an emergency.

This inquiry is ongoing, and any updates will come from the Public Affairs Office.
