Two 19-and-13-year-old men charged with sexual assault on golf course

According to the Ann Arbor Police Department, Michigan prosecutors have charged two young males with sexually assaulting a woman on a golf course in 2023.

According to the police report, Jerrel Childs, 19, and a 13-year-old kid reportedly assaulted a 39-year-old woman during a University of Michigan football game against Purdue University on November 4, 2023. The incident allegedly took place in the parking lot of the Ann Arbor Golf and Outing Club, which is across from Michigan Stadium. “Childs and the 13-year-old male did not know the victim prior to this incident, and this was a random attack,” according to the police report.

Bonnie Thiel of Ann Arbor Police Ltd. revealed that the two males reportedly participated in the crime and aggressively removed the victim’s clothes while strangling her, rendering her unconscious, according to ClickonDetroit.com.

“In my 24 years here, we’ve never had an incident of this nature with this type of violence in a public space at any U of M sporting event, so this is very concerning,” he added.

Childs, whose cash bond was set at $75,000, is reportedly being held at the Washtenaw County Jail. The younger defendant, on the other hand, is said to be in custody in the Washtenaw County Juvenile Detention Center after being charged with first-degree sexual conduct with the intent to cause physical harm to the victim.
