In his weekly “Power On” newsletter, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman believes that Apple’s initial batch of AI-related capabilities “will work entirely on the device,” implying that they may not require a data connection to function.

Apple has reportedly been developing its own in-house LLM, dubbed “Ajax” internally. In December, Apple researchers disclosed a novel technique for AI to run on devices like the iPhone without requiring a lot of RAM, and the corporation has bought several AI startups in recent years.

Messages, Safari, Spotlight Search, and Siri are likely to be the first apps to benefit from AI technology.

Apple is anticipated to discuss its AI aspirations at WWDC in June.

During Apple’s earnings call in April, CEO Tim Cook stated that the business was investing “a tremendous amount of time and effort” into its AI goals.
