Irvine, CA (DMN) – A Las Vegas man was shot and killed by officers after he stabbed his mother to death in a Southern California neighborhood on Thursday.
According to the Irvine Police Department, they received a report of a man pursuing a woman with a knife.
According to a statement from the Irvine Police, officers on the scene witnessed the attack and attempted to intervene. A man approached the officers, prompting them to respond with gunfire, striking him.
Tragically, both the man and woman lost their lives at the scene.
The authorities have identified the suspect as Paul Parvea Montazer, aged 37, from Las Vegas, and the woman as his mother, Parvin Montazer, aged 72, from Irvine.
Authorities are currently conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident, with no indication of any additional individuals involved.
