San Antonio Police Disband Street Takeovers; 10 Suspects Arrested in West Side Operation

San Antonio, TX (DMN) – San Antonio Police successfully intervened and put an end to multiple instances of street takeovers on Saturday night.

A total of 10 individuals have been apprehended in relation to the incidents of street takeovers, according to the department.

Police Chief William McManus expressed his appreciation for the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies, including SAPD, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, and the Department of Public Safety, in a tweet on Sunday morning.

The Streets Crimes Unit of SAPD assisted DPS during an incident involving a vehicle driving recklessly in an undisclosed area of Bexar County. A vehicle tried to escape from law enforcement but ended up blowing a tire.

Authorities reported that four individuals were apprehended during the traffic stop. The department announced on Sunday that charges have been filed in the case, which includes unauthorized use of a vehicle, evading arrest/detention vehicle, and public intoxication.

“Last night, street takeover groups came to SA (San Antonio) were met by SAPD, DPS and BCSO,” McManus tweeted. “The results of their efforts: minimal disruption, several arrests (misd — misdemeanors & fel — felonies), (and) impounded vehicles.”

Another vehicle was stopped near the intersection of Latigo Drive and Harness Lane during a street takeover event on the West Side. Following a routine traffic stop, the driver was apprehended by an officer from the SAPD. The suspect now faces charges of unlawfully carrying a handgun and narcotics possession.

As a result of the arrests, authorities have impounded a total of eight vehicles.
