Missouri Teacher Sentenced on CSAM Charges; Recorded Explicit Videos using Hidden Camera

A former teacher from Lafayette High School has received a 20-year federal prison sentence for creating child sexual abuse material using concealed cameras.

In July, Joseph Gutowski entered a guilty plea in U.S. District Court in St. Louis for charges related to the receipt and production of child pornography. On Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Henry E. Autrey imposed a 20-year sentence and mandated $86,500 in restitution for the victims of Gutowski.

Gutowski faces serious allegations in St. Louis County, including the exploitation of a minor, possession of illicit materials, and the promotion of such content. No trial date has been established in that matter.

It has been reported that Gutowski allegedly installed concealed cameras in various locations, including his residence, restroom, and school office, to record the victims without their knowledge. He subsequently posted the pictures on the internet.

The Rockwood School District reported that he was employed there from 2006 until his arrest in December 2022.

In December 2023, three of his victims took legal action against him and were granted $2 million in damages.
