Valatie man charged with rape in Town of Ballston

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office says they arrested Shane A. Morris, 29, of Valatie for a sexual assault incident that happened on November 8 in the Town of Ballston.

Officials say Morris is accused of engaging in forcible sexual contact with another person. He is also accused of violating a court order by placing the protected person in reasonable fear of physical injury, serious physical injury, or death, by displaying a baseball bat.

The Sheriff’s Office says received the complaint on Westside Drive around 10:36 a.m., leading to Morris’s arrest.

Morris was charged with first-degree rape, first-degree criminal contempt, and second-degree menacing, said police.

He was arraigned in Malta Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail in lieu of bail, bond, or partially-secured bond pending further proceedings.
