Zeldin tapped for EPA administrator

Former congressman and Republican gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin has been tapped by President-elect Donald Trump to lead the EPA.

In a statement posted to X, Zeldin said: “It is an honor to join President Trump’s Cabinet as EPA administrator. We will restore US energy dominance, revitalize our auto industry to bring back American jobs, and make the US the global leader of AI. We will do so while protecting access to clean air and water.”

Zeldin was the 2022 Republican nominee for governor. He was defeated by Gov. Kathy Hochul 53% to 47%.

Zeldin was a congressman on Long Island from 2015 until 2022.
