LONG LIVE THE LAMBADA

Step into the world of “Lambada is Dead — Long Live Lambada,” where passion, mystery and intrigue collide. This is not your standard dance show — it’s a celebration of lambada’s history and rhythm.

Creator and director Pamela Stephenson Connolly has been in love with lambada for 12 years, after discovering it by accident. When the sensual dance style burst onto the world stage, Connolly was a rising comedy star and missed its initial explosion. Now, she’s bringing it back. This show is a murder mystery wrapped in the beats of lambada, tracing its journey from Brazilian bordellos to global fame. At the heart of this story is Braz dos Santos, the world’s best real-life lambada dancer, now living in Key West. Under Connolly’s energetic direction, the story — filled with passion, betrayal and a determined spirit — highlights the dance’s sensual movements, egalitarian spirit and fun.

Against the setting of a vibrant Porto Seguro marketplace, a local narrator breaks the fourth wall and draws you into the action. In a Brazilian soccer scene, dancers juggle an endless stream of balls. The show is packed with playful twists, colorful costumes and irresistible beats.

“Lambada is Dead — Long Live Lambada” is a story of how art can be commercialized and then reborn. Tickets are available at keystix.com.
