Report: Rensselaer County man who died by suicide assaulted sister, had pipe bombs in home

According to authorities, the Rensselaer County man who allegedly beat a family member before killing himself in August had pipe bombs in his house.

The incident happened on Anders Road in Pittstown on Thursday, August 22. It led to a significant local law enforcement response.

At the time, the suspect’s name was among the scant details made public by the police. News Channel 13 used the Freedom of Information Law to request a copy of the police report. His name is being withheld.

According to the police, the 19-year-old guy killed himself in the neighboring woods after assaulting his sister, who is 21.

According to the report, an attack was reported, and officers arrived at the scene shortly after 2:00 p.m.

The man was starting college the following week, so a family friend had dropped by the house to drop off some clothes. Despite having a code for the front door, the friend was unable to enter the house.

She got in touch with the man’s father, who reviewed the cameras while on vacation in Florida. They displayed a man holding the door shut while wearing a black ski mask, black leggings, and a black tank top. According to the complaint, that individual, armed with a long gun and without shoes, fled out the rear door.

His sister informed the authorities that she and her brother were left at home while their parents were on vacation. The sister claimed that while she was getting out of the shower, her brother attacked her.

After leaping out of the closet, her brother started assaulting her. According to the police report, he then allegedly choked her until she lost consciousness.

She screamed more when she came breathing again. Despite the mask, she was aware that her brother was the assailant. According to the report, he restrained her.

According to the account, the sister was able to lift herself up, unlock the door, and let the buddy in when her brother left the house. When the police arrived, they released the woman.

Additional police arrived on the scene. To search the region, they divided up. Drones, a helicopter, and K-9 cops were also employed in the search.

By following his cell phone signal, police were able to locate him in a nearby cabin in the woods.

Police heard a gunshot near the cabin at approximately 4:30 p.m. They looked all over the cabin but couldn’t find him.

They looked for a trail close to the cabin. The individual was spotted by police, but he disregarded their orders. A flash bang was utilized. Then, around 300 yards from the cabin, they discovered him dead.

On the floor of his bedroom, they discovered several pipe bombs. They called up the bomb squad from the New York State Police.

The area was cleansed.

The sister said to the police that her brother hated his parents and sister and had become reclusive at the age of 14. According to the article, he had a few close pals but did not interact with many others.
