Albany woman found guilty of stabbing man to death

On Wednesday, a woman from Albany was found guilty of fatally stabbing a 58-year-old man.

Following a jury trial, Albany County Court found 42-year-old Kyisha Smith guilty of one count of second-degree murder.

On May 12, 2023, Smith stabbed James West at a South Pearl Street high-rise apartment. West was discovered with a neck stab wound. At the scene, he was declared dead.

Smith and West allegedly had a domestic relationship, according to the prosecution.

The date of sentencing is set for January 16, 2025. She might be imprisoned for 25 years to life.
