NEW YORK (AP) — Following a settlement, Jonathan Major’s ex-girlfriend has dropped her assault and defamation lawsuit against the once-rising Hollywood star.
Majors and Grace Jabbari’s attorneys jointly filed a motion in Manhattan federal court on Thursday to dismiss the case with prejudice.
Although he declined to provide further details, Jabbari’s attorney stated on Friday that the lawsuit had been amicably settled.
In a statement, lawyer Brittany Henderson said that Grace Jabbari has shown incredible bravery over this lengthy and challenging procedure. It is our hope that she will be able to go on with her head held high and finally put this chapter behind her.
Emails for response on Friday were not answered by Majors’ representatives.
In her March lawsuit, Jabbari claimed that the 35-year-old Marvel and Creed III star had repeatedly abused her verbally and physically during their relationship, including assault, violence, slander, and emotional distress.
Months after Majors was found guilty of misdemeanor assault and harassment in relation to a Manhattan dispute, the British dancer filed the lawsuit.
According to Jabbari, Majors smashed her head with his open palm, pulled her arm behind her back, and crushed her middle finger until it broke during a brawl that started in the backseat of a chauffeured car before erupting into the streets.
Majors asserted that Jabbari was the aggressor, had gotten into a furious rage, and was merely attempting to retrieve his phone and escape without incident.
Majors escaped jail time, but in April, a judge mandated that he finish a year-long treatment program.
Majors was promptly fired by Marvel Studios after the guilty conviction. The studio had cast him as Kang the Conqueror, who was supposed to be the primary antagonist in the entertainment empire’s films and television series for years to come.
On the set of Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, where Majors portrayed Kang and Jabbari assisted as a movement coach, Majors and Jabbari first crossed paths in 2021.
In recent weeks, Majors has gradually made a comeback to the Hollywood scene.
Last month, his long-shelved movie Magazine Dreams was acquired for theatrical distribution.
After his imprisonment in December, the bodybuilder drama’s distributors abandoned Majors, despite the fact that film had generated early Oscar hype.
Then, Majors and fellow actor Meagan Good revealed earlier this month that they will be attending the Ebony Power 100 Gala in Los Angeles.
