To assist in determining Marathon’s future growth rate, the city will host another workshop on Tuesday, December 3. The public is invited to attend in order to express their views on the number of residential building permit allocations that the city should request from the Florida Legislature or the State Department of Commerce via the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners. The session will take place at City Hall on Tuesday, December 3 at 5:30 p.m.
The Marathon City Council will discuss a resolution with a number at its regularly scheduled meeting on December 10th, following public feedback. At its meeting on December 11, the Monroe County BOCC will be presented with that resolution. In an attempt to prevent takings litigation that might cost Keys municipalities millions of dollars, the county is drafting its own plan to submit to the Florida Legislature in Tallahassee.
