Local artists like Annmarie Anderson are included in this year’s Holiday Fest ornament auction.
Before focusing on painting as her work, Anderson studied art and interior design in Chicago before relocating to the Keys in 1972. Her paintings, which are included in collections both domestically and abroad, are well-known for their vivid depictions of glistening waterways, tropical settings, and traditional Conch houses. She paints at her studio, the Cottage on Coconut Row, in Old Tavernier, where she resides with her spouse, Jimmy.
“Every brushstroke is inspired by the beauty of the Keys,” Anderson stated. I’m able to spread that love throughout our community by making this ornament for Holiday Fest.
Check out Anderson’s most recent design and over 60 other one-of-a-kind ornaments at www.32auctions.com/ICC-2024, the online auction. The auction will take place on the Great Lawn at Founders Park from 4 to 10 p.m. on the night of Holiday Fest, Friday, Dec. 6, starting at noon on Sunday, Dec. 1, and ending at 9 p.m.
Snow is predicted for the 20th Annual Islamorada Chamber of Commerce Holiday Fest, which will take place on the Great Lawn in Founders Park on December 6, 2024, from 4 to 10 PM.
“Get ready for one of the most exciting community events on the calendar,” said Adriana Cuomo, president of the Chamber of Commerce. Everyone will have a fantastic time starting the Christmas season at this time.
The Holiday Fest Snow Mountain, the event’s main feature, will once again be constructed from 30 tons of the icy white material, more than enough to amuse kids wearing mittens and some of their more energetic parents. Islamorada’s official holiday tree, which is 35 feet tall, will be blowing enchanted snow through its branches all evening.
Holiday Fest promises much more than just snow. The Holiday Parade, with floats, vintage cars, and of course, Santa himself, will begin at 7:30 PM. The parade will be led by Fire Chief Terry Abel, who is the Grand Marshal.
The Publix Holiday Sweet Shoppe, which will debut this year, will provide a great assortment of sweet delights and fun giveaways with a holiday theme. Throughout the evening, there will also be a large selection of savory cuisine available. At Vino Village, a festival staple, adults can sample food, sip excellent wines, and savor craft beer, eggnog, and hot buttered rum.
It is suggested that attendees bring an unwrapped item to leave at the event gate. The Islamorada Fire Department will gather the items and give them to underprivileged local kids and families, bringing holiday joy to the Upper Keys.
A complimentary shuttle will operate from Coral Shores High School to Founders Park from 5 to 10 p.m. to further facilitate your visit.
