Police: Saratoga Springs commissioner prevented access to records

A Saratoga Springs commissioner is charged with blocking record access.

Three noncriminal complaints have been filed against Commissioner of Accounts Dillon Moran, claiming that he provided false sworn certifications in response to Freedom of Information Law requests on three different occasions in February, March, and May of this year.

The court issued a summons after a private individual filed the accusations on November 26.

At a later time, Moran is expected to appear in Saratoga Springs City Court.

The purported use of governmental resources and staff for private gain has sparked controversy in the city of Saratoga Springs.

Misconduct charges have been brought against Deputy Public Works Commissioner Joseph O. Neill and former Public Works Commissioner Jason Golub. According to the charges, Golub was helped by a city employee to unclog a sink during city time. Since then, Golub has resigned and accepted a post with the state. O’Neill was just placed on five days of suspension.

Moran said in a statement that it was extremely concerning that the police department would accuse Golub of a crime after Golub and O Neill were charged.
