Troy man faces decades in prison for drugs, weapons convictions

A Troy man who was found guilty of drug and weapon offenses faces a maximum sentence of 35 years in prison.

In December 2023, Royal Teasley, 38, was taken into custody following a search of his residence at 320 6th Avenue. According to the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office, investigators discovered digital scales, drug packaging, half a kilogram of cocaine, more than an eighth of an ounce of methamphetamine, and a ghost pistol.

Prosecutors said Teasley was selling drugs from his house.

Four charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance, one count of illegal possession of a weapon, and the use of drug paraphernalia were all found against Teasley.

His sentencing is set for January 16.
