Stellantis recalling more than 300,000 Ram trucks for braking system defect

More than 300,000 Ram Heavy Duty pickup trucks are being recalled by Stellantis due to a defective component that may cause specific tracking and braking systems to malfunction.

According to the Netherlands-based automaker, the vehicles’ hydraulic control unit is prone to failure, which might impair the functionality of the traction control, electronic stability control, and anti-lock brake systems. According to Stellantis, the faulty component has no effect on standard braking systems, and it is not aware of any associated injuries.

These vehicles, which comprise the Ram 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500, are all from the 2017–18 model year. A tiny percentage of the 317,630 trucks that are part of the recall are located in Canada, Mexico, and other countries.

Stellantis stated that it will notify any impacted customers when they might expect to receive free service.

Customers should call 1-800-853-1403 if they have any more questions or concerns.

A recall of over 207,000 Jeep and Dodge SUVs in the United States was announced by Stellantis last month in order to address a computer issue that might disable the safety functions of electronic stability control and anti-lock brakes. To address a software issue that could disable the electronic stability control system, Stellantis recalled around 1.5 million Ram pickup trucks globally in September.

Carlos Tavares, the CEO of Stellantis, revealed last week that he was leaving the position after almost four years in charge of the automaker.

Stellantis has been dealing with declining sales in addition to the recalls, which have resulted in layoffs and increased inventory on dealer lots. According to Stellantis, net revenues fell 27% over the same period last year.
