NEW YORK (AP) After his unsuccessful bid to become President-elect Donald Trump’s attorney general, Matt Gaetz will now host a political talk show on the conservative One America News Network on weeknights.
Gaetz’s new one-hour show will debut in January at 9 p.m. Eastern, the network said on Tuesday. Alongside OANN’s Dan Ball, he will co-host a weekly video podcast.
The former congressman from Florida was selected to be Trump’s new attorney general, but he pulled his name from consideration when his chances of being confirmed by the Senate were called into doubt due to sex-trafficking claims.
However, a figure who is criticized by the mainstream media can often find a place in the growing conservative media ecosystem. For OANN, which has a small television distribution and typically trails Fox News Channel and Newsmax in the race for conservative viewers, his hire is a significant step.
According to network president Charles Herring, OANN’s high expectations for the show are reflected in his time slot, which is valuable real estate in the cable news industry.
According to Herring, Mr. Gaetz will give our viewers in-depth knowledge and analysis of the upcoming government.
According to him, the show serves as an example of how OANN is utilizing social media, streaming, podcasts, and other media platforms to raise its profile.
Pam Bondi, the former attorney general of Florida, replaced Gaetz as Trump’s pick for attorney general. The House Ethics Committee and the U.S. Justice Department looked into Gaetz for allegedly engaging in sexual misconduct with minors, an allegation he has strongly rejected.
