South Korea’s SEOUL (AP) As part of a larger investigation into whether South Korean law enforcement officials’ ill-conceived power grab last month amounted to rebellion, they will ask impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol to attend for questioning this week regarding his brief martial law order.
Police said Monday that a combined investigative team comprising the Defense Ministry, police, and an anti-corruption agency will send a request to Yoon’s office for him to come for questioning on Wednesday.
The National Assembly, which is controlled by the opposition, impeached Yoon on Saturday for enforcing martial law on December 3. Until the Constitutional Court makes a decision on whether to formally remove him from office or reinstall him, his presidential powers will be suspended.
