Thedailymiaminews– After firemen used water to put out fires at an abandoned school, Paterson public works workers are putting in a lot of effort to remove ice accumulation along Sherman and Union Avenues.
Overnight, firefighters responded to the Sherman Avenue location of the former St. Mary’s High School. They found no one inside after swiftly containing the fire.
However, the water used ran down Sherman Avenue and came to a stop at Union Avenue, and the icy conditions caused dangerous ice to accumulate.
Public Works personnel swiftly stepped in to help both pedestrians and drivers, ensuring a safe Thursday morning commute.
The cause of the fire at the shuttered high school is unknown.
