Deadly SUV Crash on I-10 in Jefferson County Claims Life of Valdosta Woman

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Valdosta lady was murdered in a crash in Jefferson County Thursday evening, and the vehicle’s passenger was critically injured.

The accident occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 10 at mile marker 217 in Jefferson County, according to an FHP press statement issued Friday morning.

According to the state agency, a 49-year-old Valdosta woman lost control of her Chevrolet SUV while driving west in that region.

As a result, FHP stated that the vehicle exited the road just before colliding with a tree. According to the statement from the state office, the Valdosta woman was pronounced deceased on the spot.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the passenger, a 37-year-old man from Port Saint Joe, Florida, was brought to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital after suffering critical injuries.

According to the state office, the woman and man’s next of kin have been contacted.

According to the news release, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Rescue aided FHP with the crash.
