Two individuals have been arrested following a robbery and chaotic police chase that ended in Stamford, Connecticut, on Wednesday night.
Authorities say the suspects were in a vehicle linked to the robbery of an NYPD officer when it was spotted crossing into Connecticut. The driver exited Interstate 95 in the wrong direction and then continued driving the wrong way down Summer Street in Stamford.
During the pursuit, a state trooper’s cruiser was struck by another vehicle, triggering a chain-reaction crash. The force of the impact caused the cruiser to spin and hit a parked car. The area was shut down for about two hours.
The trooper, along with three other people involved in the collision, were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to police, the driver fled again and later abandoned the vehicle on the Merritt Parkway. Both the driver and a woman passenger ran from the scene but were eventually found hiding in a nearby yard and taken into custody. It is currently unclear what charges they are facing.
All vehicles involved in the crash were heavily damaged and required towing. The incident remains under investigation.
