Four women shot dead in a suburban Chicago home in a “domestic incident”

Four women were killed in a shooting in suburban Chicago on Sunday, according to authorities.

According to Village Manager Pat Carr, the “domestic incident” occurred around 11:20 a.m. in Tinley Park, a 55,000-person suburb located roughly 30 miles south of downtown Chicago.

Carr stated that the victims were shot to death following a domestic incident at a home in the 7400 block of 173rd Street.

When police arrived at 11:30 a.m., they discovered four people dead in the home, all with apparent gunshot wounds.

Police reported in an update at 3 p.m. local time that they had a male suspect in custody and a weapon recovered, but information about the incident is still scarce. Tinley Park Police Chief Tom Tilton stated during the news conference that there is no threat to the public.

“This was limited to the home,” Carr explained. “The scene is secure. “There is only one suspect at this time.”

The incident alarmed individuals living nearby.

“My daughter knows them,” resident Charlotte Vaitkus said. “She attended school with the oldest son and employed the twin sisters. She was often talking about how brilliant they were and how ambitious they were in life.

Charges against the individual in detention are currently pending. The victims’ identities have not been disclosed.

The investigation is underway.
