During the previous week, a construction worker in Georgia was rescued from a trench after falling twenty feet into the trench.
According to Paulding Country Fire & Rescue, the cave-in that led the laborer to fall into the trench occurred early on Friday afternoon. According to photographs taken at the scene, the deceased individual was buried up to his chest.
Paulding County 911 received reports of a construction worker who was buried in a collapse just before noon today, according to a post that the department made on Facebook.
“Crews from Paulding and Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services worked together for over 3 hours to safely rescue the man, who was burried [sic] up to his neck in a 20 foot deep trench.”
According to the officials who spoke with FOX 5 Atlanta, the dirt in the region was unstable, which made the rescue operation difficult. Workers from the emergency services came together in a hurry to find out how to save the man without provoking another fall.
Although first responders were working to save the sufferer, he remained conscious and alert throughout the process. After being extracted from the trench at three o’clock in the afternoon, he was transported by helicopter to a hospital, where he was admitted “in guarded condition.”
In a statement, the department added, “This was another true team effort that saved a man’s life as a result of their combined efforts.”
