After ATVs and dirt bike riders, MLK Rideout cyclists attack Miami-Dade streets on Monday afternoon

Cyclists hit theĀ streets of Miami-Dade County on Monday afternoon to take part in the MLK Rideout, an annual event attended by hundreds of cyclists.

Several dozen bikers were seen riding across northwest Miami-Dade before halting at a 7-Eleven at Northwest 79th Street and Northwest 7th Avenue.

Numerous Florida Highway Patrol troopers were observed shutting up a nearby Interstate 95 entrance ramp.

Cyclists were observed leaving the gas station and riding through junctions and against traffic.

The gang ultimately arrived in Coral Gables and Little Havana, stopping at a Shell petrol station on 8th Street near Douglas Road.

A Shell employee recorded scores of people entering and ransacking the store, with some leaving without paying.

The shopkeeper told NBC6 in Spanish that she was terrified when she saw so many people and sought to press the emergency button, which shuts the entrance, but people held it open. That’s when she moved to close the door, but she stated she was forced against it.

“They knocked things down, treats, beer, ice cream, Gatorade, they took everything,” she went on to say.

A little while later, police arrived and brought the situation under control. Officials have not stated whether or not arrests were made.

The event, also known as “Wheels Up, Guns Down,” originated with the goal of promoting peace as an alternative to gun violence.

However, in the past, street takeovers have occasionally gotten out of hand, with bikers performing deadly feats on streets and taking over parts of roads.

Many people have also organized their own ATVs and dirt bike rideouts.

Over the holiday weekend, Miami-Dade Police arrested over 150 people for riding dirt motorcycles and ATVs unlawfully.
