A South Florida charter school instructor was arrested after reportedly sending graphic images to a 17-year-old student.
According to Miami-Dade Police, Alberto Hernandez, 37, befriended one of his students during the Christmas school break and began chatting with the 17-year-old via the messaging program WhatsApp.
According to police, the chat turned “sexual in nature” as they continued to communicate, and at one point, Hernandez sent the student a picture of his genitals.
The student reported the incident to school officials, who notified MDPD.
Hernandez, who taught at a charter school in South Miami-Dade, has been charged with electronic communication of dangerous content to children.
Detectives are urging that any other victims contact the Special Victims Bureau at 305-715-3300.
