Florida Woman Who Had Both Legs Amputated After Drunken Crash Tells Driver: ‘I Do Not Forgive Her’ during Sentencing

According to a story, a Florida woman who lost the lower half of both of her legs in a vehicle accident in 2021 has told the motorist who hit her that she will not forgive her.

According to local ABC affiliate WPLG, the confrontation occurred on Friday during Shana Soto’s sentencing hearing, after she acknowledged driving drunk in November 2021.

On the day of the crash, Soto tested positive for cocaine, THC, and alcohol.

“I am truly sorry for the decision I made to get behind the wheel,” she told the court, according to WPLG.

Soto clipped a curb and drove into the sidewalk, where one of her victims, Ana Verastegui, was eating outside with her fiancé at the time.

At the court hearing, Verastegui, who was flung 10 feet from her seat when the automobile hit her, confronted Soto after hearing her apologize for her actions.

“I do not forgive her,” she told WPLG.

Verastegui lost the lower portion of both legs in the incident and was in a wheelchair until Soto’s sentencing after extensive rehabilitation.

Her partner, Marcelo Santolalla, stated that he believed she would die that day.

“When you ran us over and I was holding Ana’s legs, I saw you come down of the car,” Santolalla informed her, according to WPLG. “You were completely drunk.”

Soto was sentenced to four years in prison and ten years probation.
