Favorite Chicken Chain in the South US “Bojangles” Expanding with 20 New Restaurants in the West

The majority of the locations that Bojangles has opened over its almost 50-year history have been in the South and Southeast, leaving customers in other regions of the country to seek the regional chain’s famous fried chicken, scratch-made biscuits, and sweet tea.

However, as the chain’s expansion plans continue, more chicken fans in the West will be able to enjoy Bojangles’ southern dish.

According to a press release, Bojangles has recently signed an agreement to open 20 additional stores in Phoenix, “marking the next chapter of the brand’s Westward expansion.”

LVP Restaurant Group, LLC, will lead the development of the new stores in collaboration with real estate developer Kingsbarn Realty Capital.

This new partnership expands on a previously announced agreement with LVP and Kingsbarn to bring 20 Bojangles restaurants to Las Vegas and ten more stores to TravelCenters of America locations around the West.

“We’re delighted to expand our partnership with LVP and Kingsbarn as we continue to grow Bojangles outside of our Southeast core market. They have shown to be great operators, have a thorough understanding of their markets, and share our commitment to expanding Bojangles West,” said Jim Cannon, Bojangles’ chief development officer, in a statement.

Cannon said that chicken demand is currently high and that Bojangles’ new boneless chicken menu, which debuted last year, has performed well in every new market the business has entered. This gives the company confidence that consumers in the West would embrace the Bojangles brand.

“We know guests in Phoenix are going to love the Southern flavor of Bojangles food and hospitality, and we look forward to working closely with the LVP and Kingsbarn teams to open these restaurants,” Cannon said in a statement. The announcement did not specify when these 20 restaurants would open, so Phoenix residents should keep an eye out for additional information on timing in the future.

The new Bojangles expansion deal adds to the chain’s already ambitious growth ambitions for the future. Earlier past year, Bojangles announced plans to open 270 more restaurants by 2023.

While the announcement did not specify a date for the openings, these new shop commitments should put the company on track to surpass 1,000 sites, given that it now operates over 800 restaurants.

Bojangles is also implementing some significant adjustments to its business as part of its current expansion strategy. In addition to the boneless chicken menu that debuted last year, the chain has implemented a new restaurant design and staffing strategy aimed at streamlining operations and increasing customer experience.

According to the announcement, this new technique has already been adopted “within several restaurants across the U.S., most recently in Ohio, Texas, and Florida, among others.”
