Princess Kate’s cancer video reportedly deemed to not meet photo agency’s ‘policy’

A picture agency apparently assigned a new label to Princess Kate’s cancer disclosure video for allegedly violating its “editorial policy.” Her Royal Highness, 42, shared the video on her and husband Prince William’s official social media profiles on March 22.

“This Handout clip was provided by a third-party organization and may not adhere to Getty Images’ editorial policy,” E! News stated on Monday, April 1. Getty responded to the publication in a statement, stating that the clip of Kate “includes a standard editor note to handout content provided by third-party organizations.”

There is presently no explanation for why the agency labeled the video nearly two weeks after Kate revealed her illness to the world.

“It has been an incredibly difficult couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken excellent care of me, for which I am extremely grateful,” the Princess of Wales said in the video. “In January, I had extensive abdominal surgery in London, and my condition was believed to be non-cancerous. The procedure was successful. However, examinations conducted following the operation revealed that malignancy was present. As a result, my medical team advised me to begin a course of prophylactic chemotherapy, which I am currently undergoing.

While noting that her recuperation from abdominal surgery and the start of chemotherapy had “taken time,” Kate also acknowledged the emotional toll this has put on her, William, 41, and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

“But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK,” she said. “As I’ve said to [my children], I am well, and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal, in my mind, body, and spirit.”

Kate’s cancer diagnosis came as a surprise to the globe. However, in the weeks preceding it, the Princess of Wales received several inquiries on the internet concerning her whereabouts, as she had been absent from public appearances since December 2023.

Furthermore, photo agencies’ labels on the princess’ social media photos have sparked criticism. Some online users even claimed that there were AI-generated images of Kate circulating and that the real Kate had not been seen in public.
