Three Democratic House members introduced legislation Friday to rename Miami’s federal jail after former President Donald Trump.

They claimed it was the only honor he “truly deserves.”

Reps. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.), Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.), and John Garamendi (D-Calif.) introduced legislation in response to a House GOP bill that would rename Washington’s Dulles Airport after Trump.

Rep. Connolly said in a statement that naming a federal prison after Trump is a “far more fitting option” than placing his name on an airport.

“I don’t see any need to wait. “Donald Trump faces nearly 100 felony charges,” Connolly said. “He was convicted guilty of sexual abuse and then defamed the victim. He has been penalized hundreds of millions of dollars for civil fraud. It is only fitting that the nearest federal jail to Mar-a-Lago bears his name. I hope our Republican allies will join us in presenting the only honor that Donald J. Trump actually deserves.

“Everyone knows President Trump loves to write his name in gold letters on all of his buildings,” Rep. Moskowitz said in a statement. “But he’s never had his name on a government building before, and as a public servant, I simply want to assist the former president. “Help us make that dream a reality.

Rep. Garamendi went on to say, “I cannot think of a more fitting tribute to our former president, Donald J. Trump, than renaming the closest federal prison to Mar-a-Lago in his honor.”

Their bill would rename Miami’s federal jail “the Donald J. Trump Federal Correctional Institution.”

On Tuesday, House Republicans presented legislation to rename Dulles International Airport in Virginia as “Donald J. Trump International Airport.”
