Chaos Erupts in Courtroom During Sentencing of Man Who Stabbed Woman 100 Times

The brother of a woman who was stabbed nearly 100 times attacked his sister’s convicted murderer, resulting in a courtroom brawl in Maine.

A judge on Friday sentenced 20-year-old Jason Servil to 45 years in jail for Alice “Allie” Abbott’s killing in July 2022. According to a Portland Press Herald account from the courtroom, defense counsel and prosecutors were discussing something with the judge when Abbott’s brother left the courtroom gallery and crossed the bar to attack Servil.

Chaos ensued.

According to camera footage from the incident, a corrections officer used a Taser to restrain the brother. Other family members attempted to cross the bar but were stopped by cops.

“He deserves to die,” a family member shouted again.

Abbott’s white mother, Alice Abbott, often used a racial term to refer to Servil, who is Black, according to the Press Herald.

Servil remained unharmed, watching the battle unfold in front of him while tied and wearing an orange jail jumpsuit. Police arrested Abbott’s brother, according to the Press Herald.

“Unlike anything I have ever seen,” Maine Assistant Attorney General Bud Ellis, who has been practicing law for nearly 40 years, told the Press Herald.

A guy who had spent the night on Abbott’s parents’ property called Skowhegan police at 5:39 a.m. on July 16, 2022, to report an attack on the 900 block of Canaan Road, according to the Maine State Police. Police came to find the caller with a head injury. Police discovered Abbott’s body. Paramedics transported him to the hospital, but he survived his injuries. Later that day, police arrested Servil on murder charges.

According to the Press Herald, Servil and Abbott dated briefly before she ended the relationship. In a fit of jealousy, Servil stabbed Abbott to death. He pleaded guilty in January.

According to her obituary, Abbott enjoyed spending time with her family, baking, and being outside.

“Allie was stunning, spontaneous, and had a laugh and smile that could light up any room. “She was a fiercely strong woman with a kind, gentle soul,” the obituary read.
