Arrest made in connection with shooting that injured at least 5 outside DC nightclub

Authorities say at least five individuals were shot outside a nightclub in Washington, D.C. late Friday night.

Around 11 p.m., a man was booted out of a Dupont Circle nightclub on Connecticut Avenue NW. He then apparently pulled out a gun and shot numerous victims. Officers responded to a shooting incident on the 1200 block of Connecticut Avenue NW soon before 11:30 p.m., according to Assistant Chief Ramey Kyle of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, who stated this in a video published on social media early Saturday morning.

When police arrived at the scene, they discovered five adult victims with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

An MPD commander later told NBC Washington that six individuals were injured in the incident, including a security guard. While authorities have not named the business, the network has recognized it as Decades, a popular club in the Dupont Circle neighborhood.

Police stated officers arrived soon at the scene. One person was apprehended, and one firearm was found. It’s unclear whether that was the firearm used in the shooting.

“This all started with a dispute that happened inside the establishment, [which then] spilled into the street,” Kyle went on to say.

Dupont Circle is a prominent DC neighborhood noted for its lively nightlife. Decades promotes itself as the “only multi-level retro megaclub” in the nation’s capital.

The vast 15,000-square-foot establishment celebrates club culture with decade-themed areas scattered across eight bars, six levels, and a rooftop bar. Authorities did not immediately disclose any information on the suspect or what triggered the dispute.
