The latest iteration of Apple’s ever-popular AirPods Pro are back at an all-time low price of $180 on Amazon. The bargain saves $10 off the normal sale price of $190 and $69 off the $249 MSRP. We last saw this price tag at Amazon’s spring sale in March. Apple changed the charging case for the iPhone 15 last year, giving both smartphones a more ubiquitous USB-C connector. If you own an iPhone, we believe these are some of the best pieces of audio gear you can put in your ears.
The second-generation AirPods Pro (with the Lightning case) were released around the end of 2022; the case refresh does not significantly affect the buds themselves, save from improving dust resistance. That makes these a little older, but we don’t expect to see new AirPods introduced at Apple’s upcoming “Let Loose” event in May (we’re largely expecting iPad news).
A fresh AirPods unveiling is more likely to occur during Apple’s annual iPhone presentation in September. However, if you don’t want to wait to see if such a debut occurs, this deal is a good time to acquire your first pair. Alternatively, replace the pair you left on the train.
We gave the AirPods Pro an 88 when they first came out. Billy Steele of Engadget lauded the effective active noise cancellation (ANC) and rated the ambient sound mode as one of the finest on the market. Furthermore, they function rather effortlessly with all of your Apple devices, providing easy pairing, device switching, and hands-free Siri assistance. The audio is fuller, with greater depth and clarity than in prior Pro models.
All of this led us to rank them as the best wireless earbuds for iPhones in our buying guide. Of course, they are not compatible with non-Apple devices. Our current top recommendation from our Android phone guide is the Google Pixel Buds Pro, which are presently reduced to $140 on Amazon after a 30% reduction.
