Washington County, MO (DMN) – A rural Missouri man has been charged with the horrifying crime of kidnapping and murdering his ex-girlfriend. According to reports, he allegedly forced her to witness as he dug her final resting place.
The murder took place on June 20 in a heavily wooded area along the 11800 block of Haven of Rest Road, as stated in the probable cause statement by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
According to investigators, a violent altercation occurred between Tony L. Charboneau, 36, and his ex-partner, Amy Hogue, resulting in Charboneau physically assaulting her with punches and kicks.
Following the incident, Charboneau and his current partner, Brandi L. Luffy, placed Hogue in a manual wheelchair and securely fastened him using ratchet straps. Investigators reported that the duo gathered various tools and a firearm, loading them into Charboneau’s vehicle. Hogue was carefully placed into the back of the vehicle while still bound to the wheelchair.
Charboneau drove from his home to a wooded area, where investigators stated that he and Luffy unloaded Hogue and took her to a wooded hill.
According to authorities, Charboneau used a shovel and pickaxe to dig a shallow grave. He proceeded to remove Hogue from the wheelchair and fatally shot her. Hogue was 43 years old.
Officials reported that Charboneau spent the remainder of the day concealing Hogue’s body by burying her and using large rocks and tree limbs as cover, while Luffy remained near the vehicle to keep watch.
Charboneau and Luffy disposed of the ratchet straps and tarp after they left the area. They went to a river access point in Jefferson County and threw Hogue’s purse into the water.
According to the police, Luffy confessed to assisting Charboneau and provided information that led investigators to Hogue’s body.
Charboneau was taken into custody on August 5th as reported by Fox-2 Now.

Charboneau has been charged by the Washington County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office with a range of serious offenses, including first-degree murder, first-degree domestic assault, first-degree kidnapping, abandonment of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and conspiracy to commit a felony.
Charboneau is still being held in custody on a bond of $1 million, which must be paid in cash. His preliminary hearing is set for August 28.
