Devann, also known as “Drama,” Yao presented himself to his Instagram followers as a dynamic and compassionate advocate who has connections to top-notch venues. The caption for one of his numerous photos with a group of young women: “Let’s have a great time together.”
Authorities are investigating Yao as a possible serial rapist. As per Detective Pablo Gonzalez’s arrest warrant request, a woman claimed to have met him on the BLK dating app on Jan. 2. He then arranged an Uber for her and they went for drinks at the Catalina Hotel, Mau Miami, and Vendome.
A woman informed the authorities that she had consumed excessive alcohol and subsequently fell asleep, only to wake up and discover that she had been sexually assaulted by Yao at his residence near Collins Avenue and 20th Street.
She was terrified and unable to move as it happened. Gonzalez penned the words. The individual proceeded to stand up from the bed and made their way to the bathroom, where they expressed their emotions through tears.
According to records, the victim in Miami Beach reported a rape on Jan. 3 and underwent a rape kit examination on Jan. 5 at the Roxcy Bolton Rape Treatment Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital. This incident occurred while Yao was already out on bond for another alleged rape.
According to records, Yao was arrested by Miami police officers on December 4th. After a judge set his bond at $10,000, he was released by corrections. Miami-Dade County prosecutors have recently filed charges against the Miami Police Department for a case involving sexual battery of a physically helpless victim. The case was filed on December 5th.
According to available records The Miami-Dade Police Department’s forensics investigators were able to link the DNA evidence found in the Miami Beach case to Yao. On July 30, prosecutors filed a case against the Miami Beach Police Department for sexual battery of a physically helpless victim.
Following the investigations conducted by the Miami, Miami-Dade, and Miami Beach departments, a warrant for Yao’s arrest was issued by a Miami-Dade judge on July 30.
Yao recently shared on Instagram that he has been without a phone for the past 36 hours. By Friday late afternoon or Saturday morning.
Yao turned himself in at the Miami-Dade Police Department’s Midwest District Station on Thursday afternoon, as stated in an arrest report.
As of Friday afternoon, the sexual battery cases were still pending in Miami-Dade court, and Yao was being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center by correctional officers.
He was instructed by the judges to maintain distance from the victims.
The Miami case was being presided over by Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Cristina Miranda. The next hearing with Miranda is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on October 21st.
Judge Carlos Lopez has been assigned to oversee the Miami Beach case.
