Police: Woman arrested for shoplifting at Morris County Walmart despite prior trespass ban

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A woman was arrested for shoplifting at Walmart, located at 40 International Drive South in the Flanders section of Mount Olive Township, after being formally banned from all Walmart locations due to previous theft attempts, according to police.

On Nov. 1, at around 7:21 p.m., an officer responded to a report of a shoplifter in custody at the Walmart store. Upon arrival, the officer met with Walmart Loss Prevention staff, who identified the suspect as Diane Perez-Cortes, 57, of Franklin, police said.

Perez-Cortes had previously been formally trespassed from all Walmart locations following multiple shoplifting incidents. Despite this ban, store security allegedly observed her entering the store, concealing multiple items on her person, and attempting to leave without paying, police said.

Perez-Cortes was arrested and charged with shoplifting and criminal trespass. She was released pending a court appearance, police said.
