Defendant doesn’t show up for court, but found guilty of Albany burglary

A 44-year-old Schoharie County man was convicted Thursday of burglary, but the defendant wasn’t there to see it.

Patrick Corbett, of Broome, didn’t show up to court to hear the jury’s guilty verdict on a second-degree burglary charge, according to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors said Corbett illegally entered a residence on County Route 12 in the town of Rensselaerville with the intention to steal property.

No sentencing date was set, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
