Man injured after being bitten by pit bull in Watervliet

A person was injured after being bitten by a pit bull in Watervliet.

The incident happened on Saturday, Nov. 2 at around 11:15 a.m. in the area of 622 3rd Ave., according to Watervliet Police.

A white pit bull with a black spot around one of its eyes was being walked by a man in his 20s or 30s on 3rd Avenue. The person who was bitten initially thought he was not hurt but later saw a puncture wound on his arm, police said.

Police are not pursuing any charges against the dog owner, but they are seeking vaccination records for the dog to ensure the person who was bitten does not need to be treated for rabies.
