Ravena firefighters heading downstate to help fight wildfires

Members of the Ravena Fire Department in Albany County are leaving Wednesday morning to help fight the wildfires downstate.

The department said its firefighters are preparing to deploy for up to 72 hours.

The deployment is in response to a request for help, made through the New York State Fire Mobilization and Mutual Aid plan.

As soon as the request was made, several firefighters immediately volunteered to help, the department said.

Meanwhile, Gov. Hochul announced a statewide burn ban until Nov. 30, due to increased fire risk.
