A guy from Albany County who stole over $1 million from the Polish American Citizens Club faces a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison.
Kenneth Frodyma Jr., 41, of Feura Bush, previously acknowledged embezzling around $1.29 million from the club between August 2017 and December 2021. The Albany County District Attorney’s Office claims that while Frodyma served as the organization’s secretary and treasurer, she took withdrawals and signed fraudulent checks.
In November 2023, Frodyma entered a guilty plea to grand larceny. To give him time to pay back the money, his punishment was postponed for a year.
The defendant might have reduced his punishment by making restitution, but he made no payment at all. That says it all. According to a statement from Judge Andra Ackerman, this prisoner deserves the best.
You defrauded this organization of more than $1.2 million. Your great-grandfather was a founding member of the organization you stole from. She also mentioned a group that makes financial contributions to institutions like St. Jude’s Research Hospital for Children.
Ackerman imposed a prison term ranging from four to twelve years.
The club’s vice president, Francis Mrzyglod, read a victim impact statement stating that the organization had approximately $130,000 in debt as a result of the crime.
Most people are unaware of what he did to our family, which at one point had close to 1,500 members. Many decades-old family relationships and lasting friendships were severed by him alone. He continued, “I now ask you to please consider the emotional harm and mental stress he has caused within our club.”
