Former NHL player Paul Bissonnette attacked during altercation at Scottsdale steakhouse

(AP) SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. Paul Bissonnette, a former NHL player and hockey pundit for TNT, was attacked by multiple men during a fight at a steakhouse in Scottsdale on Sunday night.

He attempted to step in when one of the group members got in the manager’s face and began grabbing him after his companion was asked to leave, according to a video that Bissonnette shared on Xon Monday.

Bissonnette remarked, “You could tell by his face that he (the manager) was a little shocked, surprised, and stunned.” I stepped over, grabbed the man, and told him, “Sir, if you’re going to assault and harass the staff, we’re going to have problems.” It’s a family restaurant, and nobody was there to support him.

According to Bissonnette, the altercation began in the restaurant and spread to the parking lot and a nearby store when members of the gang began tossing punches. Bissonnette said that he was struck in the head three times, absorbed a number of punches, and delivered a number of blows to seven men.

Six individuals were taken into custody by Scottsdale police on charges of assault and disorderly behavior.

Before pursuing a career in broadcasting, Bissonnette spent his last six seasons with the Arizona Coyotes during his 2008–14 NHL career.
