Hochul helps give out meals at Capital City Rescue Mission

One of the volunteers helping to serve Thanksgiving meals at Capital City Rescue Mission was Governor Kathy Hochul.

Hochul expressed her happiness at being one of the 100 volunteers who are helping to serve about 2,500 meals at the mission. As they sat at their Thanksgiving meals, she urged New Yorkers to consider those who are less fortunate than themselves.

We will always remember them. They deserve our support all year long, not just on Thanksgiving, she said, adding that they are our brothers and sisters and members of our New York family.

According to Executive Director Perry Jones, preparations for this event take roughly a week and a half. They prepare a thousand pounds of turkey. Perry stated that they will offer an additional 1,000 meals on Friday in addition to those served on Thanksgiving.

The hungry, the broken, and the homeless also require a place to celebrate. He added, “And this is their celebration point, and I’m glad to have all of them.”

Jones thanked the funders for their support in addition to the volunteers.

He claimed that the generosity of the people in the Capital Region is the reason behind everything that has occurred here.
