Cowboys set to host Bengals under open roof after falling debris thwarted that plan against Texans

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Dallas Cowboys’ roof opened without any problems and will remain that way for their Monday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

It was scheduled to be the first game at AT&T Stadium with the roof open since Dallas’ 49-29 victory over Chicago on October 30, 2022.

Three weeks ago, the retractable roof was expected to be open for Houston’s 34-10 triumph on another Monday night. However, three hours before kickoff, a big piece of metal and other debris dropped about 300 feet to the field.

Following the event, the Cowboys made the decision to close the roof, and it stayed closed for the game. The game didn’t start late, and there were no injuries.

At the time, the club promised to look into the cause and reopen the roof as soon as it was safe to do so.

The falling debris was attributed to wind. In the afternoon prior to the encounter with the Texans, there were gusts of at least thirty miles per hour. In the Dallas region, Monday was bright with highs in the 70s and breezes of about 10 mph.
