According to numerous sources, star outfielder Juan Soto is expected to agree to a 15-year, $765 million contract with the New York Mets. It’s the biggest transaction in the history of professional sports. After a year with the Yankees, the four-time All-Star turned down their 17-year, $760 million deal.
The 26-year-old slugger just finished an amazing season in which he hit a career-high 41 home runs and helped the Yankees advance to the World Series, where they were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers. At Citi Field, Soto will join Francisco Lindor, the National League MVP runner-up.
