Thedailymiaminews– The KTSM news station in El Paso, Texas The documents that were received by KTSM from the court system indicate that a 19-year-old guy is being charged with murder for allegedly stabbing and killing his stepfather on the morning of January 12 in West El Paso.
According to the records filed with the court, Raymundo Morales, who is 19 years old, is being charged with the murder of his stepfather Angel Martin Herrera, who is 40 years old.
Documents filed with the court indicate that the police were called to a residence situated in the 5800 block of Beaumont Place on the morning of the incident, just before 3:30 a.m., in response to a verbal altercation that had started.
After making certain that no one had been injured and that the conflict had been reduced to a verbal altercation, the officers then decided to leave the scene. However, officers went back to the residence at approximately four in the morning, this time in response to a call with information regarding a stabbing.
Officers found Herrera laying lifeless inside the house with a stab wound to his neck when they arrived. He had been stabbed once. Documents filed with the court state that a knife was discovered in the vicinity. After that, he was picked up and taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
According to the records filed in the court, Morales’ mother allegedly told the officer who arrived first that she had intentionally stabbed Herrera. Morales, on the other hand, was the one who stabbed Herrera, according to witnesses who met with authorities.
According to the documents filed in the court, Morales’ mother later changed her version of events and revealed that her son was the one who stabbed Herrera.
Following further investigation, the detectives discovered that Morales, Morales’ mother, Herrera, and two other witnesses were present at a family event that took place that evening and involved the use of alcoholic beverages.
Morales allegedly became enraged with one of the witnesses during the gathering, and he assaulted her by punching her in the face and dragging her face towards his chest. This is according to the records filed with the court.
In accordance with the records filed in the court, the witness who was allegedly assaulted reported to the police that Morales had choked her.
In response to this, Herrera engaged Morales in verbal confrontation. The documents filed in the courtroom state that Morales then flashed a knife in his right hand and stabbed Herrera on the left side of his neck.
Morales was taken into jail, his Miranda rights were given to him, and he voluntarily divulged a different account of the events that transpired that evening. He stated that he became enraged with his stepfather for pushing his mother, and that he then proceeded to stab Herrera in the neck with a kitchen knife.
Morales also provided the police with the information that his mother attempted to assume responsibility for him, but Morales did not allow her to do so. The documents filed in the case also show that Morales told the police, “I killed my stepdad.”
On the other hand, witnesses disclosed to the authorities that they did not observe Herrera, the victim, assaulting anyone on that particular evening, as stated in the court documents.
Morales was placed under arrest and placed in the custody of the El Paso County Detention Facility with a bond of $650,000.
