Vallejo Authorities say a crash shut down eastbound Interstate 80 in Vallejo Sunday evening, killing one man and hospitalizing another.
A single-vehicle collision on westbound I-80 east of American Canyon resulted in the ejection of a driver and a right-front passenger, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A helicopter was used to transport the two men to the hospital.
A 19-year-old guy passed away, according to the CHP. An approximately 40-year-old male sustained serious injuries.
According to the officers, speed played a role in the collision, and they are looking into all other possible causes, including DUI. Who was driving is also unknown.
Around 6:30 p.m., the CHP reported that eastbound I-80 was closed. Shortly after, one lane was reopened, but it took almost an hour to reopen the others.
