Tragedy at Trinity River: 1-Year-Old Found Dead, Woman in Coma After Crash

According to authorities, a car crashed into the Trinity River in Fort Worth on Saturday, resulting in the recovery of a 1-year-old boy’s body and the induction of his mother into a coma.

Just before 6 p.m., Fort Worth police were summoned to the scene near Beach Street and East Freeway, where they discovered the car immersed in water. After removing the woman, they took action to save her life.

According to Jasmine Robinson, the sister of the woman who was rescued from the river, her nephew Jonas Allen, age one, was in the car.

According to Fort Worth police, the search was delayed until Sunday am after the Fire Department dive team and others scoured the water until almost 10 p.m.

“I initially saw it on social media,” Robinson remarked. “That it was someone that had drove off or went into the water here at Trinity.”

In a matter of minutes, Robinson’s family was devastated by the news she saw on social media.

“As soon as I saw it on Facebook, my mom was getting a knock at the door,” Robinson recalled.

According to Robinson, the family was notified by the police about her sister’s incident on Saturday night. She claimed that when her sister arrived to pick up her nephew from their mother’s residence a few hours before to the collision, she spoke with her.

“It was just a shock,” Robinson said when her family was informed by the authorities.

Around nine in the morning on Sunday, the search in the Trinity River was restarted.

Texas Game Wardens reported the recovery of a body late Sunday morning at approximately 11:55 a.m. Later, the Fort Worth Police Department verified that it was the woman’s 1-year-old son, who is currently critically ill and in an induced coma.

According to Robinson, her sister appeared to be doing well despite having mental health challenges for the past few years.

“She’s a great person, she loves her kids and she’s fighting for her life right now,” Robinson stated. “I just want her to be okay.”

According to Robinson, her nephew’s second birthday was in May. The family is now organizing a burial rather than a birthday celebration.

“All we can do right now is give it over to the Lord and send up our prayers,” Robinson stated.
