Maryland Man Found Dead on Bahamas Beach Hours After Arrival; Family Suspects Foul Play

Paradise Island, Bahamas A Maryland man who vanished shortly after arriving in the Bahamas for a vacation with his parents was found dead on a beach just 12 hours later, in what his family believes are suspicious circumstances.

Dinari McAlmont, 23, was discovered on April 6 on Paradise Island in Nassau, according to the Royal Bahamas Police Force. McAlmont had landed on the island the previous evening with his parents and was staying at The Reef at Atlantis resort.

According to his mother, Michelle McAlmont, Dinari stepped away during dinner to retrieve a jacket and never returned. When the family was unable to reach him and could not locate him through his phone’s tracking data, they reported him missing.

The following morning, Dinari’s body was found on a beach not far from the resort. His mother told Eyewitness News Bahamas that identifying her son’s body was “traumatizing” and alleged that he appeared to have been beaten, raising concerns about the nature of his death.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force said an autopsy will determine the official cause of death. Commissioner Shanta Knowles confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and that authorities are awaiting results from the post-mortem examination.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, The Reef at Atlantis resort expressed condolences, saying, “We are deeply saddened by the passing of one of our guests. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time. We are fully cooperating with the authorities as they conduct their investigation.”

The U.S. State Department currently has a Level 2 Travel Advisory in place for the Bahamas, advising tourists to “exercise increased caution” due to heightened risks to safety and security.
